One platform.
A growing portfolio.

Natáur’s platform makes sulfur ingredients by fermentation. The first is bio-based taurine, available for sampling today.

Taurine

Taurine is a naturally occurring sulfonic acid found throughout the body, with important roles in cellular function, cardiovascular health, muscle performance, and neurological development. It is widely used in nutritional supplements, functional beverages, infant nutrition, pet food, and animal nutrition.

Taurine also has applications in pharmaceutical and specialty health products, where its biological activity continues to be studied across metabolic, cardiovascular, ocular, and healthy-aging research. Its broad use across human and animal health makes taurine one of the most commercially important sulfur-containing ingredients.

Natáur is currently scaling fermentation-derived taurine.

In development

N-acetylcysteine (NAC)

NAC is the standard first-line antidote to treat acetaminophen overdose and is used as a mucolytic to help clear respiratory mucus. It also serves as a precursor to glutathione, a key antioxidant involved in protecting cells from oxidative stress.

In nutraceuticals, NAC is widely used to support glutathione production, antioxidant defenses, liver health, and respiratory function. Its broad biological role has made it a well-established ingredient in dietary supplements and a growing area of interest across health and wellness applications.

Natáur is developing fermentation-derived NAC on our sulfur biotechnology platform.

In development

Cysteate

Cysteate, also known as cysteic acid, is a sulfur-containing amino acid with properties that make it useful as a specialty biochemical and molecular building block.

Emerging uses include dermatological formulations, bioanalytical and diagnostic technologies, functionalized membranes, specialty chemical synthesis, and other applications that benefit from its strong hydrophilicity and sulfur chemistry. These characteristics position cysteate as a versatile platform molecule for developing new medical, personal-care, and industrial products rather than as a conventional nutritional ingredient.

Natáur is developing fermentation-derived cysteate on our sulfur biotechnology platform.

From pathway design to target molecules

Our pipeline is rooted in the same proprietary sulfur biotechnology platform, with biological pathways engineered for each target molecule and supported by a growing intellectual property portfolio.
